A personal agent for the family admin

School emails, dinner plans, and a dentist appointment that needs moving. None is a big job. Together, they can eat up an afternoon.
Personal agents such as ChatGPT dots, Grok Bot, and Meta Muse are built to take on work across the apps and websites you give them access to. They can remember instructions and keep working between conversations. What they can finish depends on the product, its connections, and the permissions you set.
Here are three household jobs worth trying.
Get the school emails under control
Ask your agent to review messages from each child’s school and put the useful details in one daily email: what’s due, what needs signing, and what changed on the calendar.
Give it a separate rule for urgency. A pickup change or a form due today should reach you right away. The monthly newsletter can wait. Keep links to the original messages so you can check a detail without digging through your inbox.
Plan dinner, then order the groceries
Start with the week you actually have. Two late practices, one evening out, and a fridge with food that needs using.
Have the agent propose a meal plan and share it with the family for input. Once everyone has weighed in, it can turn the agreed plan into a grocery cart and, where shopping is supported, place the order with your approval. Set a budget and preferences for substitutions. Otherwise, a simple dinner can become an expensive delivery.
Hand off the appointment call
Need to move a child’s dentist appointment? Give Muse the office number, the appointment to change, and a few times that work. Where its calling beta is available, you can ask it to handle the call and the hold time, then return with the confirmed booking.
That feature is still developing; reporting on Meta’s tests describes human help with some calls. Check what your account supports before relying on it.
A useful first assignment is small enough to check: tomorrow’s school summary, this week’s grocery cart, or one rescheduled appointment.
